Leafs Edge Out Caps, Tie Series
The Toronto Maple Leafs held down the fort in Washington as they edge out the Capitals in game 2 by a score of 4-3 in 2OT as Kasperi Kapanen nets 2 goals in the process, with one being the game winner. The Leafs were able to strike first as James Van Riemsdyk snipes it past Holtby with 2 minutes remaining in the first period. The Capitals would be able to take control of the second period as Alexander Ovechkin would snipe the puck past Anderson 4 minutes into the second on a powerplay. Then around the 11 minute mark, John Carlson would score on the powerplay to make it 2-1 Capitals. Then only 3 minutes later Kasperi Kapanen would score his first of two goals to tie the game up at 2. Then 5 minutes later Morgan Riley would wrist a shot from the blue line to put the puck past Holtby on the powerplay. Then at 7 minutes remaining in the game Nicklas Backstrom would jump on a rebound in front of Anderson to tie the game at 3. Then going into the second overtime Brian Boyle would feed Kasperi Kapanen for the game winner and the series to be tied.
