Key Things to Take Away from the Masters
There is a ton of things to take away from the 2017 Masters, here are 2 key points I pulled away from the biggest major of the year.
The Masters is Magical- After 74 starts, Spaniard Sergio Garcia captured his first green jacket in his career. The way it happened although is a different story. Garcia and Rose went into sudden death and played the 18th hole again. Rose struggled with his driver from the start of the hole. Sergio smashed it down the middle, then sticks it on the green and taps in. Before sudden death even started Rose heading into the back had 3 consecutive birdies to even put him back in contention. When Serg put the ball in the woods on 13, everyone thought it was over, including myself. Both players momentum shifted to the 15th when Garcia possibly hit on of the greatest shots in his career, an 8 iron that hit the flagstick and laid almost 5 feet from the whole, Garcia tapped it in for an eagle to tie things up. Both went to 18 in a tie, but both missed a birdie putt to win, including a 6 footer from Sergio. "Today, I felt the calmest I’ve ever felt on a major Sunday," Garcia said after the round, per Sobel. "Even after a couple of bogeys, I was still positive. I still believed." Some might say it was being calm, and I totally agree. Hats off to you Sergio
It Is All Decided on Sunday- As you just read it came down to the final 18 holes, and even earlier in the week we all thought it was over when Charlie Hoffman shot -7 in round one. Then you see the superstars kick into the lifestyle of the masters and start to take over. Heading into Sunday a prime example is Jordan Spieth. Spieth was there all along but he blew it, shooting -1 for the tournament finishing at T11. Sergio took over on Sunday and it showed proving that nothing matter until the final day.
