Hoffman Blows Four Stroke Lead, Fowler and Others Shine on Day Two

On day one of the tournament, Charley Hoffman shot a 65, good enough to give him a four stroke lead at seven under par for the day. Behind him was William McGirt, at three under. Today, Hoffman shot a 75, and certainly opened the door for other players. Now, the lead is shared between Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler, Thomas Pieters, and of course Charley Hoffman. All three others played great golf, pouncing on the opportunity to close the gap. I was especially surprised by the play of Fowler. He putted fantastically, even with the strong winds of Augusta National. An opportunity was also given to Jordan Spieth, who has brought himself back to the top ten, currently at even par along with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott. Halfway in, we’ll see how quickly this four way tie can be broken.
