Spieth Struggles at Day One of the Masters

Jordan Spieth, runner-up of last year’s Masters tournament, is looking for redemption after a crushing loss to champion Danny Willett of England. Spieth had a quadruple bogey on the par-3 12th which put him at a tie for fourth place. This afternoon, Spieth quadruple bogeyed the par-5 15th, thus putting him three over par for the day and in a tough spot to jump up the leaderboard. Spieth struggled in getting the distance on his approach shot, first chunking the ball into the water, and then topping the ball far past the hole. He then struggled with chipping and putting. His first put on the 15th was extremely short, and Jordan knew it when he hit it. He started to walk towards the ball as he hit it, most likely trying to get this nightmare hole over. It is early, and there is more than enough time for Spieth to make a comeback. In the remaining days, we will wait to see how Jordan responds to this slow start.
