March Madness: South Region Round 1 Recap
(1) North Carolina 103- (16) Texas Southern 64 Final
North Carolina came out of the gates fast and didn’t look back. Texas Southern couldn’t make history by upsetting the Tar Heels. Justin Jackson led with 21 points.
(2) Kentucky 79- (15) N. Kentucky 70 Final
Whoever won this game was going to have bragging rights in the state of
Kentucky. Northern Kentucky kept it close, but the Wildcats were too much for Northern Kentucky. De’Aaron Fox led with 19 points.
(3) UCLA 97- (14) Kent St 80 Final
Lonzo Ball played his first March Madness game, but TJ Leaf was the best player on the floor for UCLA last night. He led with 23 points.
(4)Butler 76- (13) Winthrop 64 Final
Butler was too much for Winthrop and they won easily. Avery Woodson led with 18 points.
(12) Middle Tennessee 81- (5) Minnesota 72 Final
Middle Tennessee is on another Cinderella run because they beat Minnesota and they were favorite among people in their bracket pools. Reggie Upshaw led with 19 points.
(6)Cincinnati 75- (11) Kansas St. 61 Final
Kansas St. was one of the teams in the first four games. But they couldn’t pull out the win against Cincinnati. Troy Caupain led with 23 points.
(10) Wichita St. 64- (7) Dayton 58 Final
This was the best game of the South Region and maybe the tournament. I wouldn’t consider this an upset because I felt that Wichita St. was the favorite and they got robbed with their seeding. Wichita St. has a good chance of upsetting number two Kentucky. Landry Shamet led with 13 points.
(8) Arkansas 77- (9) Seton Hall 71 Final
This game was back and forth and was a very good game, but it ended with a controversy flagrant one call against Seton Hall. In the end, Arkansas won and they advance. Moses Kingsley led with 23.
