La Salle Varsity Baseball Preview

La Salle Baseball is looking to pick right back up where they left off last year, Colonial Council Champs. The Cadets finished last year with a regular season record of 16-3 and are looking for revenge this year in AA after to falling to Guilderland in sectionals.
The team is stacked with all stars, including Seton Hall comitt LHP James Rubino (Seton Hall), all around Tim Caroll (Siena) and top outfield prospect Cory Listing. Junior Cory Listing is looking to get some attention this year in section 2 after participating in the PBR games over the course of his high school career. There are a lot of players on La Salle that have the same potential as Listing, hopefully they can take it to the diamond this year.
The team did take a hit, losing eight seniors, something they shouldn’t have to worry about this year. With the pitch count enforced this year, most of the teams across section 2 are making the choice to take more players on the team for more depth. La Salle is a prime example of a team that can take advantage. The La Salle sophomore class is just as stacked as the Junior and Senior combined something they can depend on in the coming years. The change is small, but something defending Colonial Council champs can fix.
La Salle was a solid team last year on the offensive end of the diamond last year, outscoring league opponets by a total of 151-18, equalizing a +/- of +8.3 runs. Any team with those numbers should know how to prepare and be ready. We will see if La Salle is ready when they take on Shaker in a scrimmage on April 1st at Geer Field in Troy.
