4 Teams That Are Good... But Might Let You Down
Upstate Sports Zone is the place to go to find out everything you need to know while filling out your bracket. In this article, NCAAM head writer Jake Martino will be breaking down four teams that are good but might let you down. Take these picks into consideration while filling out your perfect bracket.
1. Team: West Virginia
Why You Shouldn't Trust Them: To start let me just say that while doing my weekly polls during the year, I could not trust West Virginia. They might not have seemed inconsistent record wise, but the teams they lost to showed it on their resume. Again, it is march so I wouldn’t leave any team out for being good. In the round of 64 they are set to play Bucknell (26-8), a team that won the Patriot League over Lehigh. Bucknell has big wins over Vanderbilt, Mount Saint Mary’s and Richmond. West Virginia is led by Jevon Carter, and in order to win he needs to play big.
2. Team: Butler
Why You Shouldn't Trust Them: Even though Butler swept Villanova throughout the season, there are still many reasons why you shouldn’t trust them. First off they should be scared of a fierce Winthrop team who is coming off a magical season and a Big South title. Winthrop to many people could be a Cinderella team, I am here to clarify that statement and say that they will upset Butler. Butler fell to Xavier in the Big East Tournament, a team they should have blown by. Head Coach of the Eagles, Pat Kelsey will get this team fired up and will inspire them to beat Butler. Everything changes in March and I think the Eagles are ready to beat Butler.
3. Team: Louisville
Why You Shouldn't Trust Them: First thing that stands out to me about Louisville is that they lost to Syracuse. Cuse had huge home wins but them making the tournament just adds on to why you shouldn’t trust Louisville. Louisville struggeled with top teams this year especially within the conference. Getting blown out by UNC, losing to Duke TWICE, Florida State and Notre Dame. I think Louisville will get by in the first round but Michigan could give them a test in round two.
4. Team: Purdue
Why You Shouldn’t Trust Them: Purdue fell hard in the Big10 tournament. They are almost the equivalent to WVU, they were inconsistent all season. Purdue being the number 1 in the BIG10, was a huge disappointment. They are set to take on Vermont in round one. Personally, I feel that Vermont can be another team that can upset. With an undefeated league record, this team has yet to disappoint my standards. They can lock up and shoot, anyone with those qualities can beat a inconsistent but solid Purdue team.
