Top Five QBs of 2017 NFL Draft
Top 5 QBs
1. Deshaun Watson:
College: Clemson
Deshaun clinched the College Football Playoff Championship game against Alabama for his team with a stellar performance. Before that game many NFL executives already had their eyes on him, but with that win he definitely turned heads. In this past NFL Combine he was clearly the better quarterback out of all of them. Many of the scouts watching him said that Watson was “on another level” compared to the other QBs. In his interviews he impressed the coaches with his knowledge of the game and how he could analyze and pick apart his opponents’ defense.
2. Patrick Mahomes:
College: Texas Tech
Patrick is a very mobile quarterback. He can execute both inside and outside the pocket. Mahomes takes pressure very well, and can scramble and make something out of the failed play if needed. He has a strong arm to get the football far down the field. Although his mechanics have a few kinks, all great quarterbacks always start somewhere. Mahomes can be that leader a struggling team needs.
3. DeShone Kizer:
College: Notre Dame
Kizer is another QB will a strong arm. His ability to throw his opponents off with the false movement of his eyes is very useful in the NFL. He’s not afraid to stay in the pocket under pressure and find his target. Not only can complete his touchdowns, but also DeShone can be a good threat in the run game. He had 18 rushing touchdowns when in the red zone during his last two seasons. Kizer poses a threat to the defense on the opposing side of the line. He can be a strong and reliable player for anybody that may pick him up in the draft.
4. Mitchell Trubisky:
College: UNC
The best thing about Trubisky is his ability to get the football to his teammates down field no matter how tough it is. He had one of the top completion percentages in the country with a 68% completion percentage. He can is a dual threat quarterback, as he can run the ball and make something out of it if forced to. Mitchell was just overlooked by many because quarterbacks like Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson were making runs for the Heisman Trophy. If placed with the right team Trubisky can be a good contributor to the team’s overall offense.
5. Brad Kaaya:
College: Miami
He became the face that will revitalize the U to what it once was. He has his flaws, he has a thin stature for a quarterback. As this doesn't really mean much in college football it does in the NFL. This is because three-hundred plus DEs can give a person Brad’s size a nice whooping. Although he makes up for his size and lack of arm strength in his mechanics and football IQ. His mechanics allow him to get the football down field even without that DeShone Kizer like arm. Kaaya can analyze a defense and know what to do against all before the ball is snapped. Brad Kaaya has the potential to be a reliable QB if he bulks up in order to take those big hits in the NFL.
