2017 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament Recap
Sunday afternoon capped off the 2017 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament. John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats took home the hardware again for the 3rd straight time and 30th all time. In the opening round on Wednesday #12 Mississippi State defeated #13 LSU 79-52, and #14 Missouri upset #11 Auburn 86-83. On day two of the tournament #9 Tennessee lost a heartbreaker 59-57 to JJ Frazier and the #8 Georgia Bulldogs that ended all hope of Tennessee getting into the NCAA Tournament. #5 Alabama defeated #12 Mississippi State 75-55, #7 Vanderbilt beat #10 Texas A&M 66-41, and #6 Ole Miss beat #14 Missouri 86-74. #1 Kentucky finally got a crack at someone on Friday and that was #8 Georgia as they defeated them 71-60, #5 Bama beat #4 South Carolina 64-53. #2 Florida lost a heartbreaker to #7 Vanderbilt 72-62 in Overtime. #3 Arkansas played #6 Ole Miss and beat them in a tight one 73-72. S the semi finals were set: #1 Kentucky vs #5 Alabama, and #3 Arkansas vs #7 Vanderbilt. Kentucky had a little bit of a tough time with Alabama, but pulled out a win 79-74. Vanderbilt had some help this tournament being that it was held in Nashville, but it didn’t help them against Arkansas as they fell 76-62. The Championship game: #1 Kentucky vs #3 Arkansas, neither team likes each other and it was not nice basketball as #1 Kentucky pulled out the win 82-65 winning their 3rd consecutive SEC Tournament Title, and 30th of all time. 4 teams in the SEC are in the NCAA Tournament (Kentucky, Florida, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina).
