Michigan wins title, Purdue disappointing, Big Ten Tournament Recap
The Big Ten Tournament ended today with #8 Michigan beating #2 Wisconsin at the Verizon Center. This is Michigan’s first conference title since 1998 and their 5th appearance in the big dance in 6 years (‘12,’13,’14,’16,’17). Michigan definitely shined in this tournament and showed that are not a team to sleep on. One big headline in this story is Purdue. They lost in the quarterfinals against Michigan with a score of 74-70. What does this mean for Purdue and their ranking in the tournament? Joe Lunardi’s bracketology has Purdue as a #5 seed in the Midwest. Well, this isn’t Purdue’s first shocking loss. Let’s go back to last year's March Madness tournament when they lost to the #13 seed Arkansas Little-Rock in the first round. What about some of the other teams in the Big Ten that could go far this year like Wisconsin and Northwestern? I think that, from what I saw in the tournament, both teams will go past the first round this year. Will Purdue go farther than the first round this year? How far will Michigan go this year? We will have to find out when they reveal the tournament matchups tonight at 5:30.
