2017 Ichabod Crane Riders Varsity Softball Preview
The Ichabod Crane Riders Varsity Softball team looks to defend their Section 2 Class B title this year despite losing third baseman Danielle Flint, and outfielders Cameron Farley-McComb, Jordan Dormandy, and Ashley Pulcher to graduation the Riders are back and return 6 starters (Calista Phippen, Alex McKearin, Ashley Walsh, Gabbie Cox, Jenna Downey and Madison Saccento). They also bring in some young talent including Junior Erin Casey, Sophomores Lauryn Heffner, Kylie Rivers, Izzy Hutchings, Brittany Futia, and Freshman Kaili Saccento, and they keep some veterans including seniors Natalie Zempko, Cassidy Smith-Milazzo, and Junior Ashley DeKraai. IchaBod will still have a star studded infield despite losing Danielle Flint. With Madison Saccento at short, Ashley Walsh at second base, and the possibility of Gabbie Cox moving to third base the Riders infield may be unstoppable. Even with a younger team this year with only 4 seniors I think they can battle this year and get back to States where they lost last year. The Riders open up the season at home on April 4th against Watervliet at 4:15.
