Game 1:
Stat Leaders: Dukes 18
Breakdown: A classic 8/9 matchup to kick off the men’s portion of the MAAC tournament. Quinnipiac came out hot in the first half, the Niagara killed their momentum with a 10-0 run. The Purple Eagles will play #1 Monmouth tomorrow night at 7PM.
Game 2:
Stat Leaders: Phil Valenti 23, Parker 22
Breakdown: Canisus came out of the gate to start game 2 of 3 at the MAAC. It was a good defensive start for the Golden Griffs. Coming out into the second half, Marist had a hard time putting together the pieces on the offensive end, not being able to score for four straight minutes. With 12:07 left to go, Marist cut the lead to 6 a key turning point in the game. 8:06 Marist cut it to 3, something they would need for confidence. Holding Canisius to no field goals for 3 straight minutes. The key turning point in the game was when Valenti hit the and one with 1:07 left to give Canisius a four-point lead. Canisius will get Saint Peters Friday night at 9:30.
Game 3:
Stat Leaders: Jimmie Taylor 16pts, Tyere Marshall 15 points
Breakdown: Jimmie Taylor scored 16 points and drilled the game-winning 3-pointer and Rider survived to eliminate Manhattan 69-68 in the first round of the MAAC Tournament on Thursday night.The Broncs (18-14) will now play No. 3 seeded Iona in quarterfinal action on Saturday.
