ICYMI: Henrik Lundqvist reaches 400 wins
On Saturday February 11, 2017, New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist reached a milestone. He reached his 400th career victory in the NHL when the New York Rangers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2. This is a big feet for him as he is the 12th goalie to do this. Not only did he become the 12 to do this, but he did it the fastest with 400 wins in 727 games played. Before him Martin Brodeur held this accomplishment with 736 games. Lundqvist is also one of 3 goalies to win 400 games with one team (Martin Brodeur and Tony Esposito the other two.) Lundqvist already has the most wins by a European-born goalie, formerly held by Dominik Hasek, when Lundqvist won his 390th game. Also Lundqvist is the first and only NHL goalie to reach 30 wins in his first 11 of seasons. For Lundqvist he has a gold medal, a silver medal, and a Vienza Trophy from 2012, a 3-time all star, the winner of the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award (award given annually Rangers fans pick winner.) There are also a plethora of awards that Lundqvist has for the Rangers alone. Like Rangers leader in shutout wins, most wins by a Rangers goalie (400), most shutouts by a Rangers goalie (55), most wins in the playoffs by Rangers goalie (43), and consecutive Game 7 wins (6.) Now that Lundqvist has reached this milestone, he looks for one more thing to guarantee this Hall of Fame career for him, and that thing is the Stanley Cup.
