Jon Rahm Captures First Ever PGA Tour Victory with 60 Foot Eagle Putt by Jake Martino
San Diego- What a tournament it was at Torrey Pines. Started off with big names in Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and World No. 1 Jason Day missing the cut after two rounds. But the only big name you needed to know on Sunday was Mr. Jon Rahm. Rahm, from Spain, started out at Arizona State and made his PGA Tour debut in 2015 was looking to get his frist win in one of the biggest pre-major tournaments of the year. If you have never watched golf before, you wouldn’t know that having 3 eagles within a four-day span is a lifetime achievement. The biggest eagle, came on number eighteen, on Sunday. Rahm completely smuthered his drive down the par five fairway, knowing he needed a birdie to even have a shot at the win. Then takes out a 5 wood and crushes it 240 yards to put him off the fringe off the back. Then the shot of his lifetime happened.
He is now the first golfer to earn his first victory at the Farmers Insurance Open in nearly three decades on Sunday. With the 30 he shot on the back nine, he earned the hell out of it. At age 22, Rahm is the youngest golfer to ever win this event.
