Camdyn Ames' 2017 NFL Mock Draft 1.0
Now that the NFL season is almost over and the Super Bowl is approaching the NFL Draft is also almost here. Let’s take a look at who could be going in the 1st round.
Cleveland Browns- Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
Cleveland has found their quarterback in RGIII, so they don’t need another possible starting quarterback. With a new defensive coordinator and a shift to a 4-3 scheme the Browns should take Garrett first overall.
2. San Francisco 49ers- Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
San Fran needs a quarterback urgently and who better to take then the best college football last year?
3. Chicago Bears- Mitch Trubisky, QB, UNC
I think Jay Cutler’s days in Chicago are over. Cutler has been very bad over the past couple of years so they go with Trubisky.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jonathan Allen, DT, Alabama
Allen is a great fit in the young Jaguars D. He is the most athletic defensive lineman in this draft.
5. Tennessee Titans- Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Adams is a versatile safety who makes big plays. He’s got the skills and attitude to energize a Titans defense who, let’s face it needs a burst of energy.
6. New York Jets- Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
Darrelle Revis is getting older and the Jets need another playmaker in the secondary. Lattimore could be the guy they are looking for.
7. Los Angeles Chargers- Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
Peppers would be great in the young Chargers defense with Joey Bosa.
8. Carolina Panthers- Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
It’s time for Carolina to find a replacement for Jonathan Stewart. Fournette is great for the Panthers power based run scheme.
9. Cincinnati Bengals- Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
The Bengals do have Vontaze Burfict, but he’s been getting in trouble lately. Foster brings the same physicality and toughness without the headaches.
10. Buffalo Bills- Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
The Bills could add another physical former Clemson receiver in Mike Williams to go along with Sammy Watkins.
11. New Orleans Saints- Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
The all time Tennessee leader in sacks could help the Saints out tremendously on the defensive side of the ball.
12. Cleveland Browns- Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
Hooker could help the Browns secondary and develop a good young defense.
13. Arizona Cardinals- John Ross, WR, Washington
With the departure of Michael Floyd and the possible loss of Larry Fitzgerald due to retirement the Cardinals need to pick up a receiver.
14. Indianapolis Colts- Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
The Colts defense lacks in consistent pressure, picking up McKinley, a speedy pass rusher would help them tremendously.
15. Philadelphia Eagles- Teez Tabor, CB, Florida
Tabor has the ability to play cover 2 and bump-and-run coverage, and that’s exactly what Philly needs in Jim Schwartz’s scheme.
16. Baltimore Ravens- Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
Baltimore needs a corner with size, length, and athleticism to complement Jimmy Smith on the outside.
17. Washington Redskins- JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
JuJu would be a great asset especially if the ‘skins lose Desean Jackson in free agency.
18. Tennessee Titans- Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
Humphrey is a versatile corner that is adept to playing man or zone.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Taco Charlton, OLB, Michigan
Charlton could add some speed, and athleticism to a team on the cusp of playoff contention.
20. Denver Broncos- Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
The Broncos offensive line struggles and prevents them from returning to the Super Bowl.
21. Detroit Lions- Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
The Lions need to balance out their offensive attack and adding Cook to a running group of Zach Zenner, Theo Riddick, and Ameer Abdullah would be great.
22. Miami Dolphins- Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
The Dolphins could add Jones to go along with brent Grimes in the secondary.
23. New York Giants- O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
The Giants have struggled to find a solid tight end, Howard may be their solution. This also takes pressure off of Odell Beckham Jr. to carry the receiving load.
24. Oakland Raiders- Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU
White improved his draft stock at the Senior Bowl and showed length and athleticism.
25. Houston Texans- Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
The Texans have struggled at right tackle for most of the 2016 season and could pick up a premier offensive lineman.
26. Seattle Seahawks- Dan Feeney, OG, Indiana
Feeney established himself as atop inferior blocker at the senior bowl and could solve the Seahawks tackle problems, moving Germain Ifedi outside.
27. Kansas City Chiefs- Deshone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
Andy Reid is a great QB developer and could develope Kizer into a nice backup and possibly even a starter in years to come.
28. Dallas Cowboys- Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
The Cowboys don’t have a reliable pass rusher on the end and drafting Thomas could solve that problem.
29. Green Bay Packers- Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
The Packers didn’t have a running back last year… yeah they used a wide receiver in the backfield. McCarthy would take advantage of McCaffrey right away, using him in and out of the backfield.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers- Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama
James Harrison's career is coming to a close and Williams could fill his role on the outside.
31. Atlanta Falcons- Carl Lawson, DE, Auburn
Despite Vic Beasley’s breakout season the Atlanta pass rush still needs help on the edges.
32. New England Patriots- David Njoku, TE, Miami
Rob Gronkowski has been battling injuries his whole career and the Pats need to think about picking up someone who can fill his role.
