UNC Crushes Cuse, Roy Williams Picks Up 800th Win

FINAL: UNC 83, Cuse 68

It is always a classic night in ACC conference play when UNC plays Syracuse. The game took place in Chapel Hill, and UNC took that to their advantage. After Cuse scored the first point, Carolina went on a 9-2 run to open the first half and they didn’t stop from there. Coming out of the break UNC kept that up-tempo play against a Cuse offense that is a run and gun team. The best duo in college basketball, Isiah Hicks (20 points) and Kennedy Meeks (15 points, 12 rebounds) have been Coach Williams biggest threat over the last four years. Both took advantage last night against a small Cuse team. Coming in the Heels are leading the nation in offensive rebounding which is huge and something that is a Carolina special. North Carolina acknowledged Willams’ coaching legacy with a brief ceremony following the win. With the win, Roy Williams reached 800 Division I wins in fewer seasons (29) than any other coach. Including Dean Smith and Coach K.

Carolina is back in action on the 21st when they take on BC on the ACCNetwork. For continued coverage of the NBA, stay with Upstate Sports Zone… @upstate_sports
