Ichabod Crane Defeats Lansingburgh In A Crazy Colonial Council Match Up by Camdyn Ames
On Thursday night two undefeated teams clashed at Lansingburgh High school, Ichabod Crane and Lansingburgh. The teams started off going back and forth, trading buckets and finished the first half tied at 22. In the second half the Knights got off to a hot start, and led 35-29 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Knights took their lead to the 4th and with 2:17 left their lead was cut to 5. With 7.1 seconds remaining Pete Volkmann drilled a three to come within 1, 48-49. When Lansingburgh inbounded the ball Austin Valliere stole it and it went out of bounds off of Lansingburgh. Casey Ritkey inbounded the ball to Pete Volkmann who missed, but the ball was rebounded by Matt Ragosta who got fouled and was sent to the line with 0.8 seconds left. Ragosta sank both free throws and the Riders went on to win 50-49 and stay undefeated on the year. For the Knights Jahidi Wallace led with 19 points, Davonte Jones followed with 17 points. For the Riders Ragosta led with 16, Valliere added 11, and Joe Werner dropped 10. The Riders enter the Maple Hill Tournament on Thursday, December 30th and will play Hoosic Valley in the opening round.
