Riders Upset Defending Champ Bluehawks by Camdyn Ames
On Friday night the Ichabod Crane Riders and Hudson Bluehawks faced off in an epic matchup at Ichabod. The Bluehawks started off hot going up 7-4 with 5:11 left in the 1st quarter. The Riders caught up soon though taking the lead 14-13 at the end of the 1st. With 4:56 to go in the half Brad Kittle sank a jumper just outside of the free throw line to extend the IC lead to 20-18 before the Riders pulled away at the end of the half and led 35-29. Ichabod went on to defeat the Hudson 81-73 to end the 'hawks Section 2 winning streak dating back to last year. Joey Werner led the Riders with 20 points, Austin Valliere followed him with 16, Pete Volkmann added 12, Kittle dropped 13, Matt Ragosta added 10 off the bench, and Casey Rutkey put in 8. For the Bluehawks Mike Alert led with 25 points, Tyler Dellavechia added 17, and Ellis Richardson dropped 12. The Riders face off against Cobleskill-Richmondville at Ichabod Crane on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:30.
