Charlie Strong Out, Tom Herman in at Texas by Jared McCabe
Following the loss to there rival TCU (31-9), early this morning Texas announced the firing of their head coach Charlie Strong. Everyone saw the writing on the wall because earlier in the week a source came out saying that they had fired him a week ago, while the Texas A.D. said nothing was official because his decision was going to be decided by the outcome of the game against TCU. They hired Strong to help build the program and get back to Texas Longhorn Football, but he wasn’t successful. Over his three years at Texas he had a 16-21 record in three seasons with the team. Two hours after Texas met with Strong, Texas announced that they had signed University of Houston head coach Tom Herman to a five-year deal worth more than $5 million a year that will get up to $6 million in the last year of the contract. Herman was 22-4 at Houston in two seasons, but had key losses this year to Navy, SMU, and Memphis. Texas hopes that Herman can get the program back on track and help lead them to the ultimate goal and that’s to bring a National Title back to Austin. Jared McCabe
