Toronto, LA Move On MLS Knockout Round Day 1 Recap by Jake Martino

  • Toronto 3 Union 1

Toronto- This is the first ever playoff victory for Toronto, but again causally it was striker Sebastian Giovinco leading his team to the 3-1 victory over the Union. Giovinco struck when Union goalkeeper Andre Blake came well off his line and Altidore dished him the ball off a volley. In the mid-second half Union looked like they had something going when midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored to make the deficit 3-1. The comeback effort failed when Altidore made it a 3-1 with 10 minutes left to go.

Up next for Toronto is the powerhouse of NYCFC. Giovinco will square off will fellow MVP candidate David Villa. The excitement of the playoffs has been building for both teams over time. This 2 game aggregate begins Sunday October 30th in Toronto.
