Cubs and Dodgers Split at a Game a Piece by Jake Martino
Game 1- Cubs 8 Dodgers 4
Chicago- The game all square at 3-3 came pitch-hitter Miguel Montero. Long gone goes the ball, grand slam. This was only the third pinch-hit grand slam in postseason history. This led the Cubs to the win over the Dodgers 8-4. Jon Lester pitches a solid game of 6 strong innings while Kenta Maeda lasted only four innings in his fourth straight bad outing dating back to the regular season.
Game 2- Cubs 0 Dodgers 1
Chicago- Game 2 was simply a pitching duel between Ace Clayton Kershaw and Kyle Hendricks of the Cubs. This had to have been simply the best start in his career for Kershaw. The left-handed ace went seven innings. He retired his first 14 batters and allowed only two hits, struck out 6 and walked 1 with only 84 pitches thrown which will allow him to return to the NLCS for Game 6. For the Cubs, Kyle Hendricks went 5 1/3 innings only allowing 3 hits in his first outing since leaving the NLDS against the Giants with a bruised forearm. The only score of the game came in the 2nd inning when Hendricks made a mistake by pitching a fastball to slugger Adrian Gonzalez which carried over the left-center wall for his second homer of the playoffs.
Game 3 is tonight with Cubs Ace Jake Arrieta on the bump for the first time since the NLDS. This game can be seen on Fox Sports 1 at 8:08PM.
