Cubs Mount Historic Comeback to Advance to the NLCS by Jake Martino
San Francisco- After 8 strong shutdown innings by Giants starting pitcher Matt Moore, the Cubs Rallied against San Fran’s horrible bullpen for a historic 4-run 9th inning to pull off a 6-5 victory. Trailing 5-2 in the 9th, Kris Bryant led off with a single up the middle. Rizzo walked then Ben Zobrist came up and posted an RBI single to score Bryant. Then came the rookie Willson Contresas who smoked a 2 run single scoring Rizzo and Zobrist. Jason Hayward reached on a fielder’s choice. Then with no doubt, the (had to be) NLDS MVP, Javier Baez, delivered the RBI single which led to be the game-winner. With the win the Cubs advance to the NLCS to play the winner of Dodgers/Nationals. Game 1 of the NLCS is set for Saturday at Wrigley Field on Fox/FS1 with game start TBD.
